Timber Products
mills CARB
Phase 2 certified
Timber Products Co.’s hardwood
ply wood and particleboard mills in Medford, Ore., and Grants Pass, Ore., have
been certified to CARB Phase 2 levels.
The Medford facility is 100 percent
certified and producing veneer core-and MDF-hardwood plywood and raw
particleboard that complies with the
Phase 2 requirements.
The Grants Pass veneer core panels
meet new standards, and the facility is
expected to be completely certified in
the next two months so that customers
can order Phase 2 material now so they
won’t have to worry about complying
with this last phase of the rule later
this year, said Timber Products vice
president, Roger Rutan.
CARB Phase 2 requirements for
veneer core hardwood plywood take
effect Jan. 1, 2010, with lower formaldehyde emission levels. Raw particleboard
and MDF have an additional year until
Jan. 1, 2011 to comply with Phase 2.
Hardwood plywood with a composite
core has a deadline of July 1, 2012.
